Simbavati Trails Camp (Adventure)

Simbavati Trails Camp is Simbavati’s luxury-but-back-to-basics walking trails camp. Located in a secluded area of the Timbavati. The camp offers 4 en-suite Meru-style safari tents and hosts a maximum of 8 guests. Bucket showers are filled on demand with warm water, hearty meals are prepared over an open fire by an expert cook, there is no electricity, nor cellphone reception. Just you, in the heart of an untamed African wildlife wonderland.

Timbavati Private Nature Reserve:

The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve lies within the Greater Kruger National Park open system, and within the internationally declared Kruger 2 Canyons UNESCO Man and Biosphere System. These systems, in turn, fall within the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area (GLTFCA), a truly visionary landscape of reserves and habitats working together under a common agreement signed between 3 countries (South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe) in 2002.
Typical Day on Safari:

Days start with a +/- 3 hour walk at a leisurely pace with an armed specialist guide. Experiencing the bush on foot is entirely different from being on a safari vehicle, enabling you to completely immerse yourself in the mesmerising sights, sounds and smells of the African bush. Stops for snacks and drinks tide you over until a tasty brunch is prepared back at the camp. After some ‘me’ time spent snoozing or reading outside your tent, a savoury and sweet ‘tea’ is prepared before another +/-3 hour walk at the end of the afternoon, ending at a viewpoint to enjoy an unforgettable African sunset. A short drive will bring you back to camp with time to freshen up before dinner around the campfire.
How to get there:

GETTING TO TIMBAVATI BY ROAD:
The Timbavati is easily accessible by road from Johannesburg (approximately 5 hours, 30 minutes’ drive).

GETTING TO SIMBAVATI TRAILS CAMP:
PLEASE NOTE: Scheduled Transfers are compulsory (no private cars can drive to the camp). Collection time from Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport is 13:45. Self-drive guests will also have to use this transfer. The transfer time is approximately 1½ hour.
