Chobe Region (Caprivi Strip)

The Zambezi Region, formerly known as the Caprivi Strip, is an unusual piece of land, rich in history, that protrudes out from northerneastern Namibia between Angola, Zambia, and Botswana. The land was acquired to allow for a passageway to the Zambezi River and on to East Africa. Measuring 450 km (280 mi) in length, the rugged terrain is characterized by a number of rivers which mostly define its borders. Being at the center of the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation area, this part of Namibia is incredibly wild with an abundance of large mammal and bird life that attracts tourists from all over.
